Health Benefits of Master Vitamins™

Vitamin D

Vitamin D is both a nutrient we eat and a hormone our bodies make. It is a fat-soluble vitamin that has long been known to help the body absorb and retain calcium and phosphorus. For most people, the best way to get enough vitamin D is by taking a supplement because it is hard to eat enough through food. Vitamin D supplements are available in two forms: vitamin D2 (“ergocalciferol” or pre-vitamin D) and vitamin D3 (“cholecalciferol”).Vitamin D production in the skin is the primary natural source of vitamin D.

Vitamin C

Vitamin C, or ascorbic acid, is a water-soluble vitamin. This means that it dissolves in water and is delivered to the body’s tissues but is not well stored, so it must be taken daily through food or supplements. Even before its discovery in 1932, nutrition experts recognized that something in citrus fruits could prevent scurvy, a disease that killed as many as two million sailors between 1500 and 1800. Vitamin C plays a role in controlling infections and healing wounds, and is a powerful antioxidant that can neutralize harmful free radicals.

Alpha-Lipoic acid

Alpha-lipoic acid is a vitamin-like chemical called an antioxidant. Yeast, liver, kidney, spinach, broccoli, and potatoes are good sources of alpha-lipoic acid. It is also made in the laboratory for use as medicine. Alpha-lipoic acid may help prevent certain kinds of cell damage in the body, and also restores vitamin levels such as vitamin C. Alpha-lipoic acid is used in the body to break down carbohydrates and to make energy for the other organs in the body. Alpha-lipoic acid seems to work as an antioxidant which means it helps in the removing of potentially damaging oxidizing agents.

Zinc

Zinc is a trace mineral, meaning that the body only needs small amounts, and yet it is necessary for almost 100 enzymes to carry out vital chemical reactions. It is a major player in the creation of DNA, growth of cells, building proteins, healing damaged tissue, and supporting a healthy immune system. According to Peter McCullough et al, American Journal of Medicine, Jan. 2021, "Zinc is a known inhibitor of coronavirus replication. Clinical trials of zinc lozenges in the common cold have demonstrated modest reductions in the duration and or severity of symptoms. By extension, this readily available nontoxic therapy could be deployed at the first signs of COVID-19."

Magnesium

Magnesium is naturally present in a variety of foods and available as a supplement. The mineral plays an important role in assisting more than 300 enzymes to carry out various chemical reactions in the body such as building proteins and strong bones, and regulating blood sugar, blood pressure, and muscle and nerve functions. Magnesium also acts as an electrical conductor that contracts muscles and makes the heart beat steadily.

Taurine

Taurine is an amino acid that occurs naturally in the body. Amino Acids are the building blocks of proteins. Taurine is a vital amino acid for the a persons overall health as it is one of the most abundant amino acids into the muscle tissue, brain, and many other organs. The body uses proteins to grow and repair tissues. It plays a role in the absorption and retention of Magnesium. Research suggest that taurine may have additional benefits in the body such as protecting the brain, heart and immune system.

Methylated Folate

Folate is the natural form of vitamin B9, water-soluble and naturally found in many foods. Folate is one of the B-Vitamins (Vitamin B9) and is needed to make red and white blood cells in the bone marrow, convert carbohydrates into energy and produce DNA and RNA. It is also added to foods and sold as a supplement in the form of folic acid; this form is actually better absorbed than that from food sources—85% vs. 50%, respectively. Folate helps to form DNA and RNA and is involved in protein metabolism. It plays a key role in breaking down homocysteine, an amino acid that can exert harmful effects in the body if it is present in high amounts.

MTHFR Gene Defects

Methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase or MTFHR is an enzyme that breaks down the amino acid homocysteine and the enzyme responsible for the process of methylation of nearly every cell in the body. Methylation is the detoxification, production and DNA protection system that most cells in the body need for proper function. The MTHFR gene that for the enzyme has the potential to mutate which can either interfere with the enzymes ability to function normally or completely inactivate it. Mutations in the MTHFR gene can occurs up to 40% of the entire population and 25% of people of Hispanic descent and 10-15% of North American Caucasions. Mutations in the the MTHFR gene can affect the body’s ability to process amino acids namely homocysteine which can lead to adverse health outcomes.
